Please refer to the award descriptions below and outline the nominee’s qualifications for this award. All nominees must either be residents of Branch County or represent a business located there. Include specific reasons or examples that demonstrate why you believe the individual or group deserves recognition. Nominations that provide detailed examples of achievements are more likely to succeed.  Only one letter of recommendation with a maximum of 750 words is allowed for each nomination. You may nominate candidates in multiple categories, but the Awards Committee will determine the final category assignment. Please submit a separate form for each nominee.

Award Categories


Citizen of the Year

This award honors an exceptional individual who resides or works in Branch County and has made a significant impact on the community. The recipient exemplifies dedication and spirit beyond normal expectations, demonstrating integrity and ethics while making a meaningful contribution throughout their career.


Educator of the Year

This award honors an outstanding educator or administrator in early childhood, elementary, middle, or high school who demonstrates excellence in teaching, leadership, and community impact. The recipient inspires a love of learning, supports student growth at every stage, and creates an environment where students feel valued and encouraged.  This individual serves as a role model within the educational community, showcasing leadership through active participation in local events and organizations.


Business of the Year

This award celebrates a business—large or small—that actively partners with the community. From childcare providers and local shops to smaller companies and major corporations, the honoree shows a strong commitment to helping our community thrive. Through meaningful contributions of time, resources, and leadership, this business strengthens local initiatives, supports residents, and makes a lasting positive impact. 


Young Professional of the Year

This award honors a young professional aged 18-35 in Branch County who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to excellence and community service. This individual has contributed to the well-being of the community and shown leadership, dedication, and innovation in both their professional and personal growth.


Outstanding Public Service or Professional

This award recognizes a public service professional who goes above and beyond in their duties. This category includes leaders in healthcare, law enforcement, fire services, housing and development, as well as city and county employees or elected officials. Active members of public service organizations like United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and Kiwanis are also eligible, provided their achievements positively impact the well-being of Branch County, whether in paid or volunteer roles.



Outstanding Organization or Community Program

This award honors an organization or program that has made significant strides in fulfilling its mission while enhancing the quality of life in Branch County. Eligible entities include local non-profits, charities, churches, and community agencies.
